Professor Mervyn E King
Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Head of the Corporate Goverance Centre at Regenesys Business School, Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor at the Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town and a Visiting Professor at Rhodes.
He has an honorary Doctorate of Laws from the Universities of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and Leeds in the UK, an honorary Doctorate from Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia and a honorary Doctorate in Commerce from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, is Chairman of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa, which produced King I, II, III and IV, and Chairman of the Good Law Foundation.
He is Chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) in London, Chairman Emeritus of the Global Reporting Initiative in Amsterdam and a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance. He chaired the United Nations Committee on Governance and Oversight and was President of the Advertising Standards Authority for 15 years and a member of the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris for seven years.
He is chairman of the African Integrated Reporting Council and chairman of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa.
He recently received the ICGN Lifetime Achievement Award for promoting quality corporate governance globally. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Commerce, honorary fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales; of the Institute of Internal Auditors of the UK; of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants; of the Certified Public Accountants of Australia; of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations of the UK and a Chartered Director of South Africa.
He has been a chairman, director and chief executive of several companies listed on the London, Luxembourg and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges. He has consulted, advised and spoken on legal, business, advertising, sustainability and corporate governance issues in over 60 countries and has received many awards from international bodies around the world including the World Federation of Stock Exchanges and the International Federation of Accountants.
He is the author of five books on governance, sustainability and reporting, the latest being “The Auditor. Quo Vadis.”
He sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally.
Dr Marko Saravanja
Dr Saravanja is the Chairperson of Regenesys Business School. He has been an academic, monk and an entrepreneur. Marko obtained his PhD in Performance Management. He was a finalist of the Ernst Young World Entrepreneurship Awards and he served on the Advisory Board of First National Bank in South Africa.
Marko has written the book ‘Secrets of Success.’ He has delivered talks on conscious leadership across the world and he has travelled to 70 countries. He has started several successful entrepreneurial ventures in South Africa, Croatia, Nigeria and India. Marko’s purpose in life is to help people awaken their potential and achieve their dreams.
Dr Penny Law
Dr Law is Dean at Regenesys Business School. Penny has worked in senior positions at the Universities of Cape Town and Witwatersrand and she serves on the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council of Higher Education, which is the South African government accreditation body.
Penny has consulted for many international companies, and she has been involved in several entrepreneurial ventures in education, financial services, travel and tourism on three continents. Penny’s expertise in educational psychology and emotional and spiritual intelligence guides the development and delivery of executive leadership and development programmes at Regenesys.
Mr. James Forson
James is General Manager at Regenesys Business School. He has a background in management consulting, feasibility studies, due diligences, and corporate governance in the public and private sectors. He has pioneered new approaches to stakeholder engagement.
James is an experienced company director and board chairman, and is executive director of the Regenesys Foundation as well as a director of the Institute for Stakeholder Relations – Southern Africa. James has an MBA from the University of Cape Town.
Ms Leoni Grobler
Leoni is CEO at Regenesys Business School. She has extensive ETD consulting experience in assessment, moderation, facilitation, material development, material review, accreditation, material alignment, QMS development, QA auditing and development, project management of training courses and learnerships.
Her HR consulting experience includes skills audits, completion of WSP’s, development of training and development plans, implementation of performance management systems, conducting disciplinary hearings, skills development administration, levy claims and completion of annual training and development reports.
Leoni has deep experience in strategy development and implementation, annual strategic planning and facilitation of strategic planning workshops.
Anton van Wyk
Anton was Admitted as a partner at PwC in 1998. He is the Clients and Markets leader for the Africa firm and serves on the Africa Firm’s leadership team. He has over 30 years’ experience in Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Internal Audit, and has worked with a range of local and global clients.
Anton is a full member of the King Committee on Governance in South Africa (Since 1999). Anton is the Chairman of the South African Corporate Governance Network, under the auspices of the IoDSA. Anton is a past Global Chairman of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Annemarie van der Merwe
Annamarie van der Merwe has been a corporate lawyer and company secretary of companies in the listed environment for more than 25 years. She is a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance for South Africa and was actively involved in the writing of King III, focusing specifically on the chapter dealing with boards and directors.
Annamarie is also a well-known presenter of workshops on issues such as board effectiveness, corporate governance recommendations, statutory duties and liabilities as well as effective board and board committee meetings. She is a facilitator of the Institute of Directors where she presents numerous workshops to boards in both the private and public sector.
Annamarie was extensively involved in the review of King III and the preparation of the King IV Report as part of a dedicated task team mandated by the King Committee for this purpose.
An integrated reporting specialist with unique expertise in integrated reporting, integrated thinking and business communications. The qualification of Chartered Accountant (South Africa) led to business journalism (print and television) and financial media relations.
This experience dove-tailed into the current speciality of integrated reporting and integrated thinking. Expertise includes a leadership role of integrated reporting in South Africa; co-authoring with Professor Mervyn King the book Integrate: Doing Business in the 21st Century (Juta); and, extensive involvement in developing the International <IR> Framework.
